Do you remember the last good Jump And Run game?

by The Bad Character - April 14th, 2009

If you are saying “Why, yes! Super Mario Galaxy of course”. Then you know something is wrong when the last good Jump And Run game was released in late 2007. What happened to a genre that was once dominating the videogame scene?

How come we went from greatness like Super Mario Bros (The obvious one…), Sonic, Land Of Illusion or Alex Kidd to crap games like Banjoo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts?

Are developers afraid to try something new or is the simple “jum and run” gameplay not up to date anymore?

I got the recent issues of GamePro in front of me and I checked some upcoming game releases. I can’t say I see a lot of Jump And Run games….hold on! Nah, just another ego shooter or an action videogame.

Do you know what other videogame genre needs to get back into business? Point & Click games. Do you remember classics like these:

Discworld 2...pure greatness!

Leisure Suit Larry

Maniac Mansion

Well, I got to give it up to the Nintendo DS for having a nice amount of Point & Click games but I’d love to see a few on the Xbox 360 or PS3!
